We’re currently looking for a skilled **Motor Grader Operator** to join our growing team. **Key Duties** - Proper pre-start and daily Maintenance Including lubrication - Keep equipment clean and well maintained - Notify supervisor if equipment needs repair - Tire pressure checks - Monitor all engine gauges - Operating skills in blade control - Scrap and level dirt - Mix materials - Shape and blade sub grades - Balance and rough shaping of base course materials - Operate to fine grade specifications - Fine grade horizontal surfaces, shoulders and slopes - Grade plan requirements and set grade standards - Dressing of shoulders and slopes - Demonstrate the ability to lead a crew and delegate work within work scope - Understand production and quantity requirements - Utilize automatic grade control system - Schedule work and maintain production - Set forth specifications and plans - Understand basic survey nomenclature - Judge distance and slopes accurately - Make decision based on verifiable standards - Other duties as assigned JOB DESCRIPTION: • Must be able to operate the grader and other heavy equipment in a safely and efficiently. • Perform daily maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks of equipment. • Must be proficient with Grader controls and their operation including cutting grade, scarifying hardened soils for grading, grading sloped road beds, working with a grade checker to insure correct tolerances are met, and finishing base course for paving. • Must understand and observe reference stakes and/or hand signals of other workers when necessary to achieve the specified grade. • Must be able to demonstrate a firm understanding of roadway plans and grades. • Ability to operate Bulldozer and other equipment is preferred but not exclusionary. • Must be able to do simple math. • Experience reading Blueprints is a plus • Must be extremely reliable and punctual. • Must be organized, detail oriented, motivated. • Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus. • Conducts routine inspections before operating equipment to identify needed maintenance or repairs. • Comply with operating safety rules and regulations. • Transports materials around job sites -When not performing the essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations • Knowledge of excavation procedures and techniques. • Ability to follow instructions and read excavation plans. • Ability to complete safety awareness training. • Excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.
