**Medical Assistant – Certified** *Non-Permanent Project Position* Stafford Creek Corrections Center Aberdeen, WA. **Hourly Salary:** $27.71-$37.08 **Monthly Salary:** $4,821.00-$6,452.00 **Schedule:** 8:00am-4:30pm (0800-1630) Monday-Friday (Saturday/Sunday off) The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Medical Assistant – Certified (MA-C) for the Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen, WA. The Medical Assistant performs all duties under the supervision of the healthcare provider in a safe and effective manner and within the scope of their practice as defined by state law and administrative code, RCW 18.360.050 Authorized Duties of the Medical Assistant – Certified, so that patient care provided is safe, effective, efficient and clinically appropriate. The Medical Assistant uses tools, techniques, physical and cognitive skills and abilities to perform tasks as delegated by a healthcare provider. Under the general supervision of the licensed Practitioner and/or lead of the Registered Nurse, the Medical Assistant will assist in providing patient care, which may include performing routine medical records duties, some administrative support, and other clinical duties to assist in the smooth operation of the medical department of Stafford Creek Corrections Center. **COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKET WILL INCLUDE:** - A detailed resume The mission of the Department of Corrections is to 'improve public safety by positively changing lives’. This recruitment could be used to fill multiple permanent or non-permanent positions.* **Provide patient care within the scope of licensure and as delegated by the licensed practitioner or Registered Nurse and provide clinical support to the health services team to ensure continuity of care and efficient clinical operations:** - Attend briefing from off-going staff upon arrival on shift for pertinent clinical information, including patients’ current health status, urgent diagnostic reports, observation rooms, staffing concerns, etc. Brief on-coming clinical staff as appropriate before departing from duty. - Monitor patient flow in the outpatient clinic to assure timeliness of care and efficient clinical operations. - Preparing patients for, and assisting with, routine and specialty examinations, procedures and treatments. - Preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas, including cleaning equipment, preparing instruments, supplies, medical records, etc. to expedite patient flow and support clinician, as appropriate. - Work collaboratively with Patient Services Representatives to ensure patient appointment scheduling, rescheduling, check-in, or no-show is documented appropriately. - Maintain immunization records. - Provide assistance in all direct delivery of patient care by the clinician, whether on site or via telehealth encounter, which includes but is not limited to: 1. Vital Signs 2. Visual Acuity 3. Audiometry exams 4. Foot exams 5. Splinting 6. Ear irrigations 7. Injections/Vaccinations 8. Basic laboratory functions (venipuncture, CLIA waved laboratory in-house testing), collecting, processing and transporting specimens 9. Screen and follow up on lab results as directed by the licensed practitioner 10. Electrocardiography 11. Respiratory diagnostic tests (pulmonary function/peak flow/incentive spirometer) - Observe, document in the medical record, and report to the clinician, which could include but not limited to: 1. Past medical history, family history, and relevant data 2. Current health status (physical and emotional) 3. Allergies, prescription/OTC medications and pharmacy information 4. Situation of patient, family, groups, and/or communities by interview…
