Surgical Technologists play a vital role in supporting surgeons and RNs throughout operative procedures, helping ensure high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgery. In this position within the Ophthalmology Surgical Center, responsibilities include preparing and maintaining sterile fields, checking supplies and equipment, passing instruments, and supporting proper sterilization processes following procedures. This role supports a variety of eye surgeries and procedures in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. It offers a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in the operating room while contributing to positive outcomes for patients and caregivers. You’ll be part of a growing workspace with Cole Eye at Main, working alongside a collaborative team with a strong, supportive culture. **This caregiver role is a day shift position with required on-call coverage.** **During the 3-month orientation period, the schedule is Monday-Friday, from 7am-3:30pm** **After orientation, the assigned shift will be from 10am-8:30pm** **The required on-call rotation includes:** **-Two call shifts per month (weeknight or weekend)** **-One to two holidays per year** **The Main Campus call response time is one hour** A caregiver who excels in this role will: - Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). - Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available. - Assists RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery. - Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients. - Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure. - Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.” - Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and gives specimens to circulator for disposition. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program, accredited through Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) - **OR** Completion of military surgical technology program will meet the educational requirements of an accredited Surgical Technology Program - Certification of either CST or TS-C required for candidates who have not completed an accredited Surgical Technology program: - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). - Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT). - Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - Surgical Tech experience **Physical Requirements:** - Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger…
