The emphasis will be on Virginia Sales and Use Tax. The Auditor, using generally accepted auditing standards, reviews taxpayer and business records and other source documents needed to determine if the taxpayer is compliant with the tax laws of Virginia. The Auditor also develops audits and assessments, educates taxpayers, and ensures the collection and remittance of payments are the appropriate amount of tax due to the Commonwealth of Virginia. **Prior to applying for this position, please note this position is home-based and candidates must currently reside in one of the following Northern Virginia areas:** **Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William** **\*No relocation costs are covered** **These positions are home-based, but travel is required to the taxpayer’s business location and may include occasional overnight stays. Ability to travel during the day and, occasionally, overnight Must have a safe and private work area/room/office at home to work including a locking file cabinet and high-speed Internet service.
