If you have a desire to help support survivors and work with passionate colleagues, whose personal and professional experience is as diverse as the clients we serve, this may be the position for you. **Overview** Under the direction of the Director of Hotline and Shelter Services, the Shelter Kitchen and Food Coordinator prepares nutritious meals for residents at the Sojourner Emergency Shelter, ensures adequate food supply, and maintains an orderly kitchen that adheres to all required food safety practices. Plan and/or prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals for residents of the Sojourner Emergency Shelter. Ensure that residents have an adequate food supply, especially prior to days off, weekends, and office closings, Communicate clear instructions needed to safely heat, store, or discard meals prepared in advance. 2. Create weekly menus and share with residents and supervisor. Ensure that the weekly menu is posted in the shelter the week prior (i.e. every Sunday or Monday for the week ahead). 3. Wash serving pans and work areas to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen environment. On a weekly basis clean fridge, freezers, and other food storage areas thoroughly. Document cleaning activities in log for compliance and historical reference needed for site inspections and other audits. 4. Load and unload dishwasher. 5. Pick up meal and food donations from local businesses. 6. Enlist resident help when appropriate to volunteer for tasks, coach on food safety, and educate regarding nutrition. 7. Implement and manage Food for Health program including reporting. 8. Practice safe food handling and sanitation guidelines. Maintain current ServSafe Food Handler certification or complete the certification during the first three weeks of employment. 9. Record temperatures on all refrigerated units and keep dry areas where foods are being stored clean and orderly. 10. Track inventory of goods received and distributed, rotating and disposing of expired items as needed. 11. Ensure all kitchen equipment is in safe working order and supplies for kitchen are kept stocked and stored correctly. 12. Keep a log of kitchen equipment so that the kitchen is properly stocked with right equipment and properly maintained/repaired. 13. Order food items, utilizing partners and donations with supplemental purchasing. Track all costs and provide monthly updates and trend reports. 14. Work with the Development Team to source food items and meals, and build and maintain relationships with food partners and other potential partners. 15. Coordinate volunteers who are assigned to the kitchen and shelter.Assist with training volunteers and interns. 16. Attend in-services and department meetings. 17. Ability to work a regular schedule and have regular attendance at the workplace. 18. Practice agency polices and safety in the workplace. 19. Participate in all mandatory meetings and trainings. 20.
