Set Up Tech, Class B

**SUMMARY** The Set-Up Technician Class B is responsible for assisting in the setup, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting of production machinery used in the manufacturing of automotive parts. This role supports Class A technicians and operators by preparing equipment for production runs, performing minor maintenance, and ensuring machines are operating safely and efficiently. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** - Assist with machine setups and changeovers under the guidance of senior technicians. - Perform basic adjustments and calibrations to ensure proper machine operation. - Prepare tools, dies, and fixtures for upcoming production runs. - Conduct visual inspections and basic quality checks during setup. - Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow 5S principles. - Document setup activities and report any issues to supervisors. - Support preventive maintenance tasks as assigned. **COMPETENCIES** - Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools. - Works well under direction and supports senior technicians. - Follows setup instructions and ensures accuracy. - Adheres to safety protocols and PPE requirements. - Open to training and skill development. **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE** - High school diploma or GED (required). - Technical training in industrial maintenance, machining, or a related field (preferred). - 1-2 years of experience in machine setup or technical support in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive. **TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES** - Basic knowledge of hand tools and measuring instruments. - Familiarity with production machinery (e.g., presses, CNC, molding machines). - Ability to read simple work instructions and setup sheets. - Basic computer or scanner skills for data entry. **SOFT SKILLS** - Clarity of communication, speech and writing - Dependability - Adaptability & Trustworthiness - Trustworthiness **PHYICAL DEMANDS** - Standing / walking for long periods of time - Stooping - Repetitive motion - Lifting – and or move up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally 50 pounds. - Reaching - Workplace chemicals - Other – Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus **WORK ENVIRONMENT** The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those a team member may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
