A Network Engineer III will have substantial network engineering knowledge (typically 5+ years of directly related experience), including developing methods of procedure and operational design work. They should have an advanced understanding of IP networking concepts that would be roughly equivalent to JNCIP level, including an understanding of MPLS/RSVP in carrier networks. Along with technical skill, a Network Engineer III must demonstrate substantial leadership capability. This is demonstrated by enabling other members of the team through mentoring, guidance and training, as well as managing complex project based work. They should also be spending a portion of their time on tasks that are self-generated based on their own experience and knowledge.
