Position Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization through accurate accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements. This position will lead month-end and year-end close activities, prepare financial statements, support audits, and provide meaningful financial insights that help leadership make informed business decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and passionate about improving accounting processes through technology and automation. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting - Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. - Prepare and post journal entries. - Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. - Lead month-end and year-end close processes. - Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records. - Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules as needed. - Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records. Accounting Operations - Manage or support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. - Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning. - Assist with internal and external audits. - Coordinate tax reporting and work with external tax advisors. - Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations. Analysis & Process Improvement - Analyze financial results and provide meaningful recommendations to leadership. - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiencies. - Leverage automation and AI-powered tools where appropriate to improve workflows. - Assist with ERP implementations, upgrades, or financial system improvements. Collaboration - Partner with leadership, operations, tax, and external advisors on strategic initiatives. - Prepare reports and financial information to support executive decision-making. - Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement. Qualifications Required - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. - 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience. - Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. - Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations. - Experience leading month-end and year-end close. - Proficiency with accounting software such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, Xero, or similar ERP systems. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines. Preferred - CPA designation (active or in progress). - Experience in a multi-entity environment. - Experience supporting audits and tax compliance. - Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. - Experience implementing accounting automation or financial technology solutions. - Professional services, consulting, legal, financial services, or multi-company experience.
