Summit Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our In-patient Care Team. Position is available at our Edmond hospital, NIGHTS, on an as-needed basis. We are committed to doing our part to ensure each employee has a satisfying work experience and can take pride in working at Summit Medical Center. **Position Summary:** Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients in medical and/or surgical units according to established procedures. The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change. **Responsibilities:** 1. Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel. 2. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, as well as interdepartmental objectives. 3. Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties. 4. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. 5. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment. 6. Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. 7. Demonstrates sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress. 8. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. 9. Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients’ conditions, and develops individual care plans for patients assigned to the unit. 10. Assists attending physicians as needed. 11. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards. 12. Consistently completes required number of charts audits each month. 13. Performs other nursing duties as assigned or requested. 14. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. 15. Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. 16. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. 17. Attends meetings as required. 18. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business. 19. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, and visitors. 20. Documents concisely, precisely, and accurately on all medical records or documents as indicated by policy. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. 21. Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business. 22. Understands and maintains clinical competencies (general, age specific and drug administration.) Job Type: As needed, Nights **Qualifications:** 1. Associate degree. 2. Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Oklahoma. 3. Sufficient previous clinical experience in medical and surgical nursing. 4. CPR certification. 5. Current BLS certification; ACLS required within one year of employment. 6. ICU and/or ER experience. **Special Skills and Knowledge:** 1. Nursing care of the postoperative patient. 2. Operation of vital signs monitors. 3. Assessment Skills. 4. IV Therapy. 5. Principles of Standard Precaution. 6.
