Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine.**A caregiver in this position works days, 6:30am—7:00pm| weekends| float to other facilities if needed.**A caregiver who excels in this role will: - Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures. - Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay. - Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. - Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam. - Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. - Maintain documentation. - Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator. - Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients, and process billing. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology - Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing - Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross - Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes - Can communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients - Strong communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families - Can function well with minimal or no direct supervision Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist **Physical Requirements:** - Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. - Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily. **Personal Protective Equipment:** - Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
