**THIS IS FOR THE 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR. PAY IS DEPENDENT UPON YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND DEGREE AND WHERE IT FALLS WITHIN THE RANGE OF PAY.** **FLSA Classification:** Non-Exempt **Position Type:** 10-month Staff (30 hours) **Reports to:** Director of Preschool **OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:** Preschool 2's Associate Teachers are expected to help create an environment that nurtures the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development of the children. This requires providing a warm and loving atmosphere for the children and the parents. The teacher and associate(s) in each classroom should work together as a team throughout the day to help provide the desired environment. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Including, but not limited to, the following: - Assist the Lead Teacher with lesson plans and preparing the room in the morning and afternoon keeping materials, smocks, toys, tablecloths or any materials used during the day cleaned, disinfected and organized. - Lead individual children or small groups in educational instruction. - Work with the Lead Teacher to prepare the needed activities according to the lesson plan. - Provide an engaging interaction with children at all times. - Keep the head count of children at all times inside the classroom and at the playground making sure the children are safe at all times. - Assist children with daily care activities (i.e. washing children's hands, diapering, pottying, meals, etc.)Support Lead Teacher with daily communication with parents through Tadpoles, making sure daily routines and special notes are properly informed to parents. - Help guide the children in better attending the instruction time and work/play appropriately with peers and classroom resources. - Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline. - Review with the Lead Teacher the progress of each child and develop written plans to promote each child's growth and development. - Take the emergency bag every time the students are moved to a different space in the school including fire/ tornado drill, emergency situations. - Monitor and refill Emergency bags with needed supplies monthly. - Support the Lead Teacher with preparing the communication folders every school day. - Maintain a respectful environment with children, parents and staff at school at all times. - Supervise and engage with children on playground areas. - Follow cleaning and sanitation procedures. - Administer first aid (Band-Aid, ice packs, etc.) and document accidents - Arrive in classroom at least 5 minutes before scheduled start time - Attend certain school functions as required by the administration (ie. Open House, staff meetings, trainings, etc.) - Arrange for substitute coverage when out for illness or personal reasons. - When a substitute is needed for the teacher, the assistant assumes the teacher's responsibilities in her absence, and the substitute will act as the assistant. - Support the school with words and actions on and off campus. - Maintain confidentiality in school matters and in regard to students, their families, and coworkers. - Demonstrate patience when interacting with children, parents, and coworkers.
