This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safe operation of our locomotive fleet. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the team to maintain and repair locomotives while supporting safe and efficient railway operations. ### Responsibilities - Maintain and repair locomotives, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly and preventative maintenance. - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals. - Perform routine and preventative maintenance on various locomotive models and their mechanical, electrical, diesel and air brake systems. - Inspect, diagnose and repair locomotive components to ensure safe and reliable operation. - Clean, lubricate, and perform routine servicing on locomotives and shop equipment as required. - Complete required maintenance records, reports and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner. - Follow all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing work safely and efficiently. - Respond to service needs and support operational requirements as necessary. ### Qualifications - Previous locomotive mechanical experience is required. - Experience and knowledge of locomotive electrical systems is considered a strong asset. - Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. - Proven commitment to safety and a demonstrated record of working safely and in compliance with regulations. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Flexibility to travel within the state of Maine, work nights, weekends and participate in an on-call rotation for emergencies. - Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail. - Highly motivated, energetic and committed to delivering high-quality work. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
