In this role, you will provide hands-on electrical commissioning training and mentorship to engineers and technicians working on mission-critical data center and advanced manufacturing projects. This is a field-based electrical engineering position focused specifically on power distribution equipment, electrical testing, energization, functional testing, and integrated systems testing. You will partner with Commissioning Managers and Leads to develop electrical commissioning competency across project teams. This position requires approximately 75–90% travel, including extended assignments at project location Responsibilities: Travel extensively between mission-critical project locations to provide hands-on electrical commissioning training and mentorship. Embed with project teams to train and develop junior Electrical Commissioning Engineers and Technicians during live field commissioning activities. Develop junior personnel from initial field exposure through supervised execution and independent electrical commissioning competency. Train personnel across the electrical commissioning lifecycle, including L2 installation verification, L3 startup, L4 functional performance testing, L5 integrated systems testing, and turnover. Provide field training on MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS/STS, PDUs/RPPs, busway, battery systems, grounding systems, EPMS, and associated electrical controls. Teach personnel to interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, specifications, equipment submittals, protection studies, and approved settings. Provide practical instruction on electrical testing, including insulation resistance, continuity, grounding, breaker and relay testing, primary/secondary injection, CT/PT verification, transformer testing, phase rotation, torque verification, and functional testing. Train personnel on electrical energization readiness and safe work practices, including NFPA 70E, LOTO/COHE, arc-flash requirements, PPE, absence-of-voltage verification, and energized work controls. Develop troubleshooting competency across electrical distribution, controls, communications, protection systems, and electrical equipment. Train personnel to identify and document electrical installation deficiencies, QA/QC issues, commissioning defects, failed test conditions, and system readiness risks. Provide instruction on electrical commissioning documentation, including test scripts, checklists, deficiency reports, test evidence, commissioning records, and turnover documentation. Coordinate with Commissioning Managers and Leads to identify upcoming electrical commissioning activities that provide training and development opportunities. Develop individual training plans and conduct field competency assessments to document technical progression and readiness for additional responsibility. Identify recurring electrical commissioning knowledge gaps and develop targeted training materials using lessons learned, troubleshooting examples, and commissioning best practices. Support consistent electrical commissioning execution, testing methodology, documentation quality, and technical standards across project locations.
