With every job we fill, our focus is on providing best-in-class service to our citizens while offering opportunities for professional growth in a rewarding, innovative work environment. ***This position requires weekend work based on the needs of the work group.*** The primary function of this position is to provide leadership and ensure assigned staff are trained and capable of performing in alignment with industry best practices and organizational standards, the general duties and responsibilities associated with the maintenance of grounds, parks, athletic fields, irrigation systems, turf, trees, shrubs, playgrounds, sport courts, and associated facilities, including the tools and equipment necessary to perform these duties. Practical experience maintaining commercial irrigation systems for sports fields, parks, and golf courses is desirable. Including practical experience with a Cloud-based irrigation controller system, such as Baseline/Hydropoint. This includes experience with conventional and 2-wire systems, as well as knowledge and experience in setting up and managing flow-based water management irrigation programming. Ideal candidates will be safety-conscious and manage time wisely. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the interpersonal and communication skills needed to build positive relationships with customers and co-workers and to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The **Grounds Maintenance Worker III** reports to the Parks Field Supervisor*.* The primary job duties of this position include: - Interview, hire, train, supervise, guide, and evaluate and review full-time division staff, process and approve employee payroll, and contract employee payroll. - Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing Ground Maintenance Workers I & II and Custodians, including timecard maintenance and approvals, as well as performance reviews and corrective measures for subordinates. - Train and oversee maintenance staff utilizing industry techniques and standards regarding relevant tasks. Including safe equipment practices and/or general cleaning practices. - Promote shared responsibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement by assisting the supervisor in planning, organizing, observing, and directing a variety of ground maintenance activities. - Prepare and maintain inspection reports, documents, and related inspection and performance records. Maintains data in various computerized systems. Submit, close, and assign work orders - Program, operate, and repair stand-alone and cloud-based automated irrigation control systems.
