This position offers the opportunity to practice **broad-scope emergency medicine** in a rural, community-based hospital where your clinical expertise has a direct impact on patient outcomes. * * * ## **About Sheridan Community Hospital** Sheridan Community Hospital is a critical access hospital dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality care close to home. Our Emergency Department serves patients across Sheridan, Montcalm County, and surrounding rural communities, providing timely care for a wide range of acute and emergent conditions. * * * ## **Emergency Room Physician Responsibilities** - Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute and emergent conditions - Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations - Stabilize and resuscitate patients, managing medical and surgical emergencies - Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory and imaging studies - Perform emergency procedures including: - Laceration repair and wound care - Incision and drainage - Fracture stabilization, casting, and splinting - Procedural sedation - Lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, and arthrocentesis - Airway management and vascular access - Administer medications and develop treatment plans - Coordinate patient disposition including admission, transfer, or discharge - Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care - Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the medical record - Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs * * * ## **Qualifications** - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited program - Completion of an accredited residency program (minimum 3 years) - Active Michigan medical license required - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred - Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment - Excellent communication and teamwork skills ## **Why This Role at SCH** - Full-scope Emergency Medicine practice in a critical access hospital - High level of clinical autonomy with strong team support - Opportunity to perform a wide range of emergency procedures - Meaningful impact serving a rural and underserved community - Collaborative, patient-centered care environment - Balanced schedule supporting work-life integration * * * ## **What to Expect** This full-time Emergency Department Physician role includes variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
