# JOB SUMMARY Reporting to Vice President of Community Services, this position is responsible for providing day to day operational leadership of the Children and Family Services Program. The Director ensures that all activities are aligned with the mission and business strategy of the agency, as well as aligned with the policy and procedures of the funding institution. This position is directly responsible for the development and effective execution of detailed organizational plans and frameworks, ensuring that all business practices are conducted in a manner consistent with VOSELA policy. The Director of Children & Family Services is also responsible for providing collaborative leadership with regard to program funding aimed at securing the program’s financial viability and sustainability. In addition, the Director is focused on ensuring the community is aware and educated about the services offered by the program. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** 1. Provide day to day operational leadership to staff within the designated programs. 2. Prepare detailed budget and financial for designated program. 3. Ensure monthly reviews of financial statements are in order and in budgetary compliance. 4. Leads the effort to educate and inform the community on the services offered by the Children & Family Services program. 5. Ensures program is completed to a consistently high standard, within budget, that objectives are met on time, suiting VOASELA image and objectives. 6. Develop and maintain positive relationships with funding institutions. 7. Establishes short and long-term program objectives and ensures team members meet them. 8. Recruits, hires, and trains team members. 9. Assigns tasks to team members to ensure project objectives are completed as required and communicates expectations to team members. 10. Investigate and resolve complaints regarding program services or staff. 11. Ensure staff and program complies with the mission statement of VOASELA. 12. Conduct regular meetings with staff and provide support to staff recognizing their achievements and accomplishments. 13. Develop and maintain partnerships with other agencies and communities served in the 16-parish service area of VOASELA. 14. Assist resource development and community impact staff to ensure the effectiveness of grant applications and contractual relationships with government agencies. 15. Can Program **KEY CONTACTS** Maintains critical relationships with the following: - Federal and state government agencies with respect to existing grants, grant applications and extensions - Key executives of supporting organizations and agencies regarding funding resources - Vendors to negotiate pricing and terms as needed. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES** This position requires knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to: - Master’s degree level in social service field and/or five years’ experience working with youth. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient computer skills in MS Office, Word, Excel and Access are required. - Requires the willingness to be responsive to the needs of the target population and the ability to function as part of the team.
