Bakery Manager

5145 N FM 620 78732 AUSTIN,TX TRAVIS UNITED STATES Position Purpose The Bakery Manager is responsible for leading all bakery department operations, delivering an exceptional customer experience, driving sales and profitability, and ensuring the highest standards of product quality, food safety, and merchandising. This position oversees bakery associates, manages inventory and production planning, and maintains a clean, organized, and customer-focused department. Key Responsibilities Customer Service - Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience. - Address customer questions, special orders, and concerns professionally and promptly. - Promote a culture of friendly, customer-first service throughout the department. Department Operations - Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily bakery production and merchandising activities. - Ensure adequate stock levels of bakery products, supplies, and ingredients. - Monitor product freshness, quality, and presentation throughout the day. - Execute seasonal programs, promotions, and sales initiatives. - Maintain proper inventory controls to reduce shrink and maximize profitability. Leadership & Team Development - Recruit, train, coach, and develop bakery associates. - Schedule staff to meet operational and labor needs. - Conduct performance coaching and provide ongoing feedback. - Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment. - Promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence. Food Safety & Compliance - Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations. - Maintain proper product handling, storage, dating, rotation, and temperature controls. - Ensure department equipment is operated safely and maintained appropriately. - Follow all company policies and procedures. Merchandising & Sales - Maintain attractive displays that are fully stocked, clean, and visually appealing. - Analyze sales trends and implement action plans to increase department performance. - Monitor ordering and production levels to meet customer demand while minimizing waste. - Support company merchandising standards and promotional events. Financial Performance - Manage department expenses, labor, sales, and gross profit goals. - Control shrink through effective inventory management and production planning. - Review department reports and implement strategies to improve performance metrics. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent preferred. - Previous bakery, food service, or retail management experience preferred. - Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards. - Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. - Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. - Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions. - Ability to work in refrigerated and food production environments.
