Associate Manager, New Verticals - Retail Strategy & Operations

About the Team The New Verticals team is building the future of local commerce by expanding our product offerings on our marketplace platform. We launched in 2020 and have since then built world-class operations to delight our customers with access to Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, and Retail delivery through our marketplace; this team is shaping the future of DoorDash Retail and how we empower local economies across industries like pets, flowers, home improvement and so much more! About the Role As we scale Retail and focus on New Bets, we're hiring a few Associate Managers on our Strategy & Operations team to launch our newest Retail products and selection from the ground up. Throughout the interview process, you will be considered for two roles - one focused on new products and one focused on new selection. You will meet with both hiring managers & we will align based on interview performance, where you’d be the strongest candidate at a final interview. In these roles, you'll identify net-new areas where we have a "right to win" and work cross-functionally with product, design, analytics, and engineering to build and scale great products in those spaces. You'll drive analysis-backed strategy, run operational experiments, and partner with technical and non-technical teams to take DoorDash's Retail business to the next level. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and product. The best operators today are rapidly prototyping ideas, building mocks for user research, putting together product visions, and synthesizing complex analyses — all with the leverage of AI tools. We expect this person to stay at the forefront of how AI is reshaping the work, actively exploring new tools, automating repetitive workflows, and finding ways to do in hours what used to take weeks. The scope of this role will continue to evolve as AI tools become more powerful and accessible, and we want someone who finds that trajectory exciting rather than unsettling. From first principles, you’ll develop the optimal strategy for best serving our customers and merchants. Operate . You’ll create tracking dashboards for your key metrics and own week over week movement as well as quarterly targets for those metrics. Analyze. Build models using SQL, Excel, and AI tools to evaluate the economic, operational and strategic costs and benefits of various programs and experiments Experiment. You’ll transform strategies into operational experiments that create measurable and actionable outcomes Build. You’ll have your fingerprints all over DoorDash’s next big business. You’ll launch new products, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high-level strategy to operational details. Lead, collaborate and Influence. You’ll partner with and influence cross-functional teams including growth, quality, design, marketing, partnerships and product team to build and scale the Retail business. We’re excited about you because… You have 4-6+ years of experience. You’ve succeeded in similar cultures that are highly analytical and cross-functional (e.g., startups, tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience). Past operating experience is required - whether that is at a startup, tech company or retailer. You are a scrappy thinker. You have 2+ years experience solving problems to build & scale products in a fast-paced, operational environment. You are an owner.
