Position Summary The Part-Time Yoga Instructor is responsible for planning and leading safe, engaging, and inclusive yoga classes that promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being. The instructor will create a welcoming environment for participants of varying skill levels while supporting Lumera Healthcare's mission of improving the overall health and wellness of the communities we serve. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Plan and lead yoga classes for individuals and groups. - Adapt instruction to accommodate participants of varying ages, abilities, and physical limitations. - Demonstrate proper yoga techniques, breathing exercises, and body alignment. - Provide modifications and alternative poses to ensure participant safety. - Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive class environment. - Arrive prior to scheduled classes to prepare the room and necessary equipment. - Maintain attendance records as required. - Ensure the yoga space remains clean, organized, and safe before and after each class. - Communicate effectively with participants and answer questions regarding class activities. - Immediately report any participant injuries, incidents, or safety concerns to management. - Maintain participant confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies when applicable. - Participate in staff meetings and training as requested. - Represent Lumera Healthcare professionally at all times. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Wellness, or a related field is preferred. Experience - Previous experience teaching yoga classes preferred. - Experience working with adults, seniors, or individuals with behavioral or physical health needs is preferred. Certifications Required: - Current Yoga Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized organization (RYT 200 or higher preferred). - Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong knowledge of yoga principles, techniques, and body mechanics. - Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to motivate and encourage participants. - Ability to adapt instruction for various fitness and mobility levels. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to work independently. - Professional, dependable, and punctual. - Commitment to maintaining participant confidentiality. Physical Requirements - Ability to demonstrate yoga poses and movements. - Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and stretch for extended periods. - Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. - Ability to move yoga mats and light equipment. - Ability to communicate clearly with participants. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a wellness studio or community setting. The instructor may occasionally travel between Lumera Healthcare locations or community partner sites. Schedule This is a part-time position with flexible hours based on class schedules and participant demand. Evening and weekend availability may be required.
