Yard Jockey

**Whitestown, IN** **Yard Jockey** **6am - 6pm or 6pm - 6am Schedule Set At Time of Hire** **$24 - $25 / Hourly, paid weekly** **Responsibilities:** - Operating a yard truck (terminal tractor) to move empty and loaded trailers within the yard. - Positioning trailers at loading and unloading docks according to schedules. - Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard trucks and trailers. - Inspecting trailers for visible damage and reporting maintenance or safety issues. - Communicating with warehouse staff, dispatchers, and dock personnel to coordinate trailer movements. - Maintaining accurate records of trailer locations, movements, and inspections. - Organizing the trailer yard to maximize space and improve efficiency. - Ensuring trailers are properly secured before movement. - Following all company safety policies and traffic regulations within the yard. - Assisting with inventory or equipment tracking when required. - Monitoring trailer availability and prioritizing movements based on operational needs. - Keeping the work area clean and reporting hazards. **Education and/or experience:** - Valid Driver’s License (CDL not required) - One (1) year experience with yard jockeying preferred **Knowledge, skills and abilities:** - Strong communication skills (written and verbal) - Ability to work with limited supervision **Physical requirements:** - Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time - Ability to frequently get in and out of vehicles - Ability to lift up to 75 pounds - Ability to work in a warehouse environment (concrete floors and changing temperatures)
