You can learn about our benefits here*:* https://humanresources.baltimorecity.gov/hr-divisions/benefits **CLASS DEFINITION** A Wastewater Tech Supervisor I Sanitary supervises and participates in the operation of mechanical and electrical equipment at a wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift. Work of this class involves supervising wastewater operation technicians. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a rotating shift with evening, night, weekend, holiday and callback hours as required or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed in a wastewater treatment plant where there is regular exposure to toxic chemicals, pathogenic bacteria, noxious odors and extremes of weather. Work requires moderate physical exertion. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:** **EDUCATION:** Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate. **AND** **EXPERIENCE:** Have four years of experience in the operation, maintenance and minor repair of equipment in a wastewater treatment plant. **AND** **LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:** Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required. **Note:** Employees in this class must hold and maintain a valid State of Maryland Permanent Operator's Certificate Wastewater Class A and Class 5, issued by the Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators, throughout employment. **PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.** **NOTE:** **YOU MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH APPLICATION AT TIME OF APPLYING.** **NOTE: Employees must be able to wear respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus due to environmental issues.** **\*\*APPLICATION DEADLINE:** *Please submit your application no later than **12:00 AM** on the closing date to be eligible for consideration.* **KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES** - Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and minor repair of mechanical and electrical equipment at a wastewater treatment plant. - Knowledge of the procedures involved in testing water samples and making equipment adjustments. - Knowledge of wastewater processing procedures and the theories of wastewater treatment. - Knowledge of Maryland State and Federal regulations regarding permit requirements. - Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. - Ability to evaluate operating procedures and ensure compliance with requirements. - Ability to maintain records and write reports. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others. - Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. - Ability to perform arithmetical computations. - Supervisory ability. **Background Check** **NOTE:** Those eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions…
