**Who We Are:** Since 1963, A&H Equipment Co. has been the leading provider of municipal, truck and environmental solutions in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and now in Ohio. **Role Overview:** A&H is seeking a **Welder Fabricator** for our Somerset, PA location. The Welder Fabricator will be responsible for modifying vehicle chassis, fabricating custom assemblies, and installing a wide range of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components based on work orders. The ideal candidate possesses a strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently with or without detailed blueprints, and a deep commitment to shop safety and quality craftsmanship. This role is shift work 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. No weekend work and some overtime with approval. **Essential Responsibilities:** - Modify, prepare, and alter vehicle chassis as required by specific work orders and engineering specifications. - Clean, degrease, and grind surfaces of weld joints or workpieces to ensure optimal weld penetration and quality. - Examine completed welds for appropriate bead size, structural integrity, and conformance to specifications. - Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter to deliver a clean, professional finished product. - Fabricate small items and build a variety of different assemblies using a wide range of metals, with the ability to build custom pieces without existing drawings or blueprints. - Safely operate heavy shop machinery, including brake presses, shears, and industrial saws. - Install plow lifts, hoists, body hoists, hoist cylinders, and lift axles onto custom vehicle assemblies. - Check driveshaft clearance to ensure proper spacing and mechanical functionality after structural modifications. - Install, route, and configure pneumatic and hydraulic controls and their corresponding components. - Ensure the proper routing of airlines and hoses to prevent wear and guarantee optimal performance. - Install wiring and various electrical components in alignment with assembly requirements. - Set up, adjust, and calibrate welding equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, such as replacing wire spools and changing out gun liners. - Safely operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to move heavy materials and assemblies (when authorized and adequately trained). - Safely perform all daily duties; maintain a clean work environment and strictly adhere to all safety protocols, always wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). **Education and Experience Requirements:** - 1+ years of welding experience. - 1+ years of equipment upfit experience not required but preferred. - Current or prior Forklift certification not required but preferred. - Valid driver’s license required. - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work comfortable in a manufacturing shop environment. *The hourly rate range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00, depending on fitness and relevant experience.*
