We are looking for a knowledgeable and collaborative professional to manage the City’s wastewater collection system programs with a strong focus on customer service, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This position requires a solid understanding of wastewater system operations, asset management principles, and best management practices, along with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of customers including contractors, inspectors, regulatory agencies, internal departments, and the public. The ideal candidate brings experience supervising staff, overseeing complex utility programs, and supporting long-range planning to ensure reliable and environmentally responsible wastewater services. **DEFINITION** The Wastewater Manager oversees the management, supervision, and coordination of the City's wastewater collection systems planning and operation functions. This leadership role ensures assets are effectively developed, funded, maintained, operated, protected, replaced, and monitored to achieve service level objectives. The position provides strategic guidance in long-range capital and operational planning, budgeting and financial policies, offering technical expertise and ensuring the implementation of compliant and fiscally responsible programs and procedures that protect public health. **SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED** Receives general direction from Planning and Operations Manager or assigned management staff. Oversee the development and implementation of wastewater planning and operations functions; develop and implement concepts, procedures, guidelines, analytical methods, decision making systems, and data collection methods to optimize operations, prepare reports on asset performance, and track the effectiveness of asset management strategies. 2. Conduct a variety of organizational studies, field investigations, and operational studies; including development, oversight and implementation of the Wastewater Master Plan that includes long-range infrastructure planning, capacity assessments, and system rehabilitation strategies. 3. Manage the lifecycle of wastewater assets, including collection systems (e.g., pipes, pump stations), and related infrastructure, integrating new assets into operations, retiring assets, and identifying and coordinating training needs for staff. 4. Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work of assigned staff; assign work activities, projects, and programs; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems. 5. Oversee wastewater utility rate structures and rate studies to develop and implement equitable and defensible rates that fairly distribute the costs of service among different customer classes, including residential, commercial, and industrial users. 6. Establish and maintain inter-agency communication channels, representing the organization in discussions related to policy interpretation, compliance with regulatory developments, and exploring strategic areas for mutual benefit. 7. Coordinate contracted services with independent contractors, consultants, equipment manufacturers and other external private or public entities to develop and maintain the department's infrastructure. 8.
