Waste Service Worker

This position is responsible for the collection of solid waste.• Accompanies a solid waste collection truck along an assigned route. • Moves and positions cans and dumpsters. • Identifies hazardous wastes and other items not suitable for transport. • Collects grass clippings and other yard waste. • Washes trucks. • Collects litter from rights-of-way. • Paints and repairs dumpsters. • Performs related duties.• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent • No experience requirements.• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. City of Bismarck does not provide visa sponsorship for this position. • Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures. • Knowledge of hazardous materials identification principles. • Skill in lifting and positioning cans. • Skill in the use of hand and yard tools. • Skill in oral and written communication.
