Volunteer - Youth Sports Coach

Positions in this class lead a youth sports team through practices and games. Officiate teams and games as needed. This is a *volunteer position* and does not offer any compensation.**Contact:** Gary Gartner, 480-474-5119, ggartner@apachejunctionaz.gov**Time Commitment:** 3-5 hours per week, or as assigned**Days of Work Week:** Monday through Saturday **Hours:** Weekday evenings and Weekends days **Age:** 16 years of age and older **Location**: Various Sports Facilities Previous experience and knowledge of sports coaching is desired; mandatory training will be provided. Volunteers eighteen (18) years of age or older who are accepted for the assignment will be required to successfully complete a criminal background report. Knowledge - Communicate clearly and concisely (both verbally and in writing) - Knowledge of City and department procedures, policies, and guidelines Skills - Convey a positive, friendly attitude, work pleasantly with staff, patrons, and other volunteers. - Understand and follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures; receive instruction from Parks and Rec staff - Work congenially with staff, patrons, and other volunteers - Ability to lift and move objects as needed
