## Description **Volunteer Athletic Coach - Various sports (Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, etc)** watch this video about our Parks & Recreation department [Gilpin County Parks & Recreation Department Open Positions](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HC7uGviBkRA) **Primary Responsibility:** To coach designated sport teams and create a positive learning environment where children learn sportsmanship, fundamental skills, teamwork, and responsibility. **Supervised by:** Youth Programs Coordinator **Supervises**: n/a Open Until Filled **Main Duties and Responsibilities:** - Serve as a role model for youth in a sports program focused on sportsmanship, fun, skill development and character development. - Develop enjoyable and creative practice plans for youth participants. - Provide and maintain a safe environment for all participants. - Enforce program rules and department policies; provide conflict resolution and behavior management when necessary. - Attend all mandatory trainings and workshops. - Be accountable and prepared for all practices and games including equipment management and parent communication. - Report any problems with fields, equipment, player behavior, parent behavior, or officials to the Youth Programs Coordinator. Requirements **Qualifications:** - Must be at least 16 years of age. - Knowledgeable in the specific sport preferred. - Ability to work and communicate well with children and adults. - Be available at the times when games, practices, and meetings are held. - Must pass background check. **Experience:** - Experience working with children and adults of various ages preferred. - Experience in the specific sport preferred.
