About the Opportunity Our partner firms is an established organization in the logistics, transportation, and construction materials industry is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance & Administration to join its executive leadership team in Crystal Lake, Illinois. This executive leadership position is responsible for overseeing the company's financial strategy, accounting operations, administrative functions, and organizational effectiveness while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive profitability, operational excellence, and long-term growth. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who enjoys building high-performing teams, improving business processes, and balancing strategic leadership with operational execution. Key Responsibilities Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Develop long-term financial strategies supporting business growth, capital investments, and operational expansion. Oversee accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance, and audit activities. Monitor profitability across multiple business lines through detailed financial analysis. Analyze operating costs, including fleet operations, equipment utilization, labor, maintenance, inventory, and production costs. Manage banking relationships, financing activities, and capital expenditure planning. Ensure compliance with applicable financial, regulatory, and reporting requirements. Oversee Human Resources, Information Technology, Risk Management, Insurance, and Administrative functions. Strengthen internal controls, financial systems, and accounting processes. Provide executive leadership with timely financial insights and strategic recommendations. Improve organizational structure, workforce planning, and cross-functional collaboration. Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement. Design and implement KPI-driven performance management, compensation, and incentive programs aligned with business objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Minimum 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience. Strong hands-on accounting and operational finance background. Proven experience improving accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with ERP systems and accounting software, including QuickBooks or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of: Cost accounting Financial planning & analysis Inventory valuation Job and project costing Budgeting and forecasting Cash flow management Financial controls Preferred Qualifications MBA and/or CPA preferred. Experience with transportation or manufacturing ERP systems (MatHaul ERP experience is a plus).
