If you thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment, enjoy utilizing advanced technical skills, and want to work alongside a collaborative team dedicated to exceptional patient care, we'd love to meet you. **Compensation** - $18.00-$24.00/hour based on experience and licensure - Shift differentials available **Full-Time Benefits** - Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance - Paid Time Off - Holiday Pay - 401(k) with employer matching - CE Allowance - Uniform Allowance - Paid License Renewal Fees - VTNE Reimbursement - Employee Referral Program - Employee Pet Discount - Life Insurance - Disability Insurance - Health Savings Account (HSA) - Flexible Spending Account (FSA) - And more! **Schedule** - Full-Time - Three 12-hour overnight shifts - Friday-Sunday - 7:45 PM-8:00 AM - Weekend and holiday availability required as part of the Emergency & ICU schedule **Responsibilities** As an **Overnight Veterinary Technician**, you will provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients while supporting veterinarians in a fast-paced specialty hospital. - Assist veterinarians with emergency patient assessments, treatments, and procedures - Monitor hospitalized Emergency and ICU patients and promptly communicate changes in patient status - Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection - Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian - Provide anesthesia support and patient monitoring during emergency procedures - Perform diagnostic imaging and assist with laboratory testing - Calculate medication dosages accurately and maintain detailed medical records - Deliver compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients - Communicate professionally with clients regarding patient status and treatment plans - Collaborate with Veterinary Technicians, veterinarians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care - Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area **Qualifications** - Minimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in General Practice or Emergency Veterinary Medicine required - Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred - Strong technical skills including venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, anesthesia support, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory procedures - Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology and medication calculations - Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced emergency environment - Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional patient care - Fluent English speaking and reading skills required **About the Hospital** Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham (VSB) is a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital dedicated to providing advanced patient care through collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence.
