The University Advancement Fellow will serve as a member of the University Advancement team for a 1-year fellowship to engage with alumni, donors, parents, trustees and friends to advance the mission of the university. The position will receive a comprehensive introduction and immersion in the advancement profession with regular collaboration with the University Advancement leadership, other division leaders and the President’s Office. - Participate in direct communication with alumni, donors, parents and friends to inform, engage, connect, and solicit current, lapsed, and prospective donors. - Surface potential prospects by engaging in personal communication that fosters community involvement, strengthens interest, and encourages philanthropic giving. - Assist with personalized stewardship efforts (handwritten notes, personal calls) that help deepen relationships with all prospects. - Maintain detailed prospect activity and contact reports in the University’s CRM system. - Access and assist in the updating of constituent’s records in the University’s CRM system. - Attend select alumni, donor, parent and trustee events both on and off campus. - Assist with special projects identified by the division’s leadership team and the Office of the President. - Manage general inquiries by telephone and e-mail from alumni, parents, students, and other institutions. - Perform other duties as assigned. - Bachelor’s degree. - Ability to work an average of 30 hours per week including nights, weekends and holidays as needed. - A commitment to the mission of Samford University. - A positive, client-centric, and service-oriented attitude is expected in daily work with a wide variety of internal and external constituents. - Individual should maintain a professional image consistent with the division. - Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. - Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods as required to perform job duties. - Ability to travel periodically, as business needs require. - Samford Ambassador or SGA Representative. - Former student-athlete. - Interested in fundraising in a non-profit setting. - Strong communication skills for engaging effectively with donors, prospects, and colleagues in both one-on-one and group settings. - Excellent networking and relationship building skills. - Ability to work in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems for daily work.
