Truck Driver & Bailer (6562)

**Schedule/Hours: Varies** **This position is responsible for:** Under the direction of the Family Store Manager, drives Salvation Army owned vehicle loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve production needs of the store and/ or general operation of corps. **Key Responsibilities:** - Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or delivery merchandise to customers. - Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location. - Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption. - Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations and other trash items. - Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers. - Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space. - Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use. - Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur. - Lifts and stacks donations in the truck, and unloads/loads truck. - Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. - Maintains good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army. - Places and arranges furniture, appliances, books or other heavy items in the store as directed. - Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted. - Delivers appliances and furniture purchased by customers **Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:** - Knowledge of the assigned geographical area. - Ability to organize pick-up tickets and to schedule route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption. - Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. - Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. - Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. - Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying very heavy objects (more than 100 lbs.) frequently. **Employee Benefits** - Health, Dental and Vision Insurance - Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay - Life Insurance - 403B Plan - High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred **AND** - One year prior customer service or retail experience preferred, **OR** - Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. - Valid State Drivers License **Equal Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled**
