Help make the world more hospitable The hospitality industry is uniquely human, and it deserves technology that’s just as inspiring as the people behind it. At Mews, we’re transforming the industry with a platform that helps hotels run smarter, move faster and create better guest experiences. You’ll work with smart, curious people who care deeply about what they do. You’ll have autonomy and the trust to make good decisions and move quickly. And you’ll enjoy a real sense of purpose as you see the impact of what we’re building. If you’re motivated by ownership, curiosity and meaningful impact, and are driven to deliver consistent high performance, you’ll feel at home here. About the role Let's get into the specifics. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it into a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this: Transaction monitoring and fraud prevention at scale is genuinely hard. The data is noisy, the patterns shift, and the choices you make directly affect which risks the business carries. As Mews grows its payments volume and customer base across new markets, the FinCrime function has a more consequential job to do — and this role is at the centre of it. You'll own the day-to-day review of transaction data, account behaviour, and payment trends that keeps Mews and its customers protected. That means working across a broad set of signals — chargeback rates, false positive rates, rule performance — to understand not just what's happening but why, and what to do about it. You'll work closely with the broader FinCrime team, contributing to the improvement of detection rules and the practices the team relies on. The problem this role solves is straightforward to describe and genuinely complex to execute: stopping fraud and financial crime while minimising friction for legitimate customers, across a payment platform operating at growing scale. Good judgement here comes from data, from regulatory awareness, and from the ability to stay grounded when the picture is incomplete. What you would do Review and monitor transactions, customer accounts, and payment activity to detect suspicious patterns and potentially fraudulent behaviour Track key fraud metrics — including chargeback rates, false positives, and defense rates — to reduce risk and minimise losses Conduct investigations into flagged transactions and accounts to assess whether fraud or financial crime has occurred Build and improve Business Rules, tracking their performance and iterating as the business scales Prepare ad-hoc deep-dives and regular reporting on payment trends and KPIs What you would bring Experience in data review and interpretation; working knowledge of SQL or Python is a strong advantage Familiarity with transaction monitoring and fraud prevention tools Experience investigating complex fraud cases and managing them through to resolution You already use AI regularly, with approaches you repeat and outputs you check rather than accept at face value Attention to detail and the ability to stay grounded when assessing a transaction or account without letting assumptions take over Nice to have Knowledge of global payment systems, rules, and regulation (AML/CTF or card scheme rules) Spain €32.000 — €55.000 EUR UK £35,000 — £47,000 GBP Pay Transparency at Mews Salary ranges are provided in good faith and reflect current market conditions and internal pay structures.
