ROLE DESCRIPTION This role sits within our Central Equipment Team, specializing in the design and development of tools and equipment using engineering fundamentals and design-for-manufacturability principles. You'll work independently in a fast-paced, high-mix/low-volume job shop, blending hands-on machining with design collaboration to help engineering build better, more manufacturable components. This is a professional-level position with flexibility over daily priorities, and may include providing work direction to other team members. WHAT YOU'LL DO: - Assist engineering in the design of critical components, offering DFM expertise and suggestions - Create NC programs through the use of CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software - Develop machining strategies based on part geometry and complexity - Design and create workholding and fixtures - Setup and machine components on a variety of machines, including a CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, manual mill and water jet - Order necessary tooling and material - Maintain inventory of all necessary consumable items in the machine shop - Manage the flow of parts through the shop WHAT YOU'LL BRING: - 15+ years of CNC machining experience - Experience programming using CAM software, preferably Fusion360 - 3D CAD experience - Experience programming and setting up Haas CNC machines - Expert in cutting tool selection - Expert in feeds and speeds in a variety of materials, including hardened tool steels - Experience machining extrusion dies and/or molds - Ability to thrive in a “job shop” type environment with high mix, low volume parts - Ability to work autonomously with little guidance - Ability to setup and operate a manual mill, lathe - Excellent communication and organizational skills - Experience working with vendors for material and tool procurement - Associates or Bachelors in drafting, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering WHERE YOU'LL WORK: This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA.
