All while understanding that **together** we are even better. **Schedule:** PRN **Shift:** Day (United States of America) **Address:** 120 N OAK ST **City:** HINSDALE **State:** Illinois **Postal Code:** 60521 **Job Description:** Evaluates prescribed imaging and makes requested changes within 24 hours, accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic record and utilizing the record and verify system. Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, verifying patient positioning and field orientation, and checking the record and verify system for prescription, treatment parameters, doses, treatment accessories, and monitor units. Performs morning Quality Assurance (QA) on the treatment unit, assessing whether all equipment is operating according to physics policy and calling the appropriate person immediately after equipment malfunctions. Assists in maintaining department supplies and provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill curriculum requirements of the academic institution. As required by facility, participates in after hours on-call coverage, maintains competency with afterhours treatment coverage, performs 2D treatment calculations, and works with minimal direction and supervision. Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment of the patient in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan. Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient in a consistent and reproducible manner. Assesses patients’ needs and actively seeks to resolve any potential problems or conflicts, consulting with the chief therapist/supervisor as necessary. Treats patients in a timely and courteous manner, handling stressful situations appropriately and communicating effectively with patients of all ages. Clinically observes patient reactions to treatment and assists in accommodating the patient through the treatment process. Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of a physician or non-physician practitioner. Immediately reports and documents adverse reactions to the managing physician and site leaders.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** • Computer literate • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records and record and verify systems • Knowledge of anatomical structures for localization • Technical skills to accomplish treatment plans proposed by Radiation Oncologists • Ability to learn and use Radiation Therapy software packages • Quick adaptability to departmental policies and procedures • Maintenance of required registries and licenses for Radiation Therapy • Understanding of Basic Radiation Safety concepts to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff • Proficient in the use of Linear Accelerator, Treatment Planning Simulator, and patient tracking and scheduling systems • Excellent clerical skills for record keeping • Knowledge of radiobiology, doses to critical structures, and lymphatics for spread of disease • Effective communication skills and ability to handle delicate or stressful issues with tact • Physical and mental capability to perform job duties, including the ability to walk and stand for the majority of the workday, and handle weights of 35 pounds or greater • Familiarity with a range of medical devices and systems including patient dose monitors, portal imaging systems, and patient immobilization devices •…
