Test & Validation Technician

The Test & Validation Technician supports the Operations and Engineering teams by ensuring new and existing products meet regulatory, quality, and manufacturing requirements prior to release. This entry-level role is responsible for validating products against design specifications, documenting test results, and confirming proper functionality. Key duties include reviewing bills of materials against physical samples, performing thermal testing on circuit boards and finished products, evaluating pre-production prototypes using mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting analog, digital, and electronic assemblies. The position also assists with R&D testing, diagnoses and corrects prototype faults, and maintains an organized engineering lab and test inventory to support efficient product development and continuous quality improvement. **At a Glance** **Legrand** has an exciting opportunity for a **Test & Validation Technician** to join the **Data Center, Power, and Control** **Division** in **Reno, NV.** Under general supervision of the Operations Engineering Senior Manager, the Test & Validation Technician will support the Operations Department by ensuring new products have proper test procedures defined and implemented prior to new product release. The Test & Validation Technician is an entry level position that will ensure that all regulatory and manufacturing tests/standards are complied with on new and existing products and components to ensure high-quality products. The Test & Validation Technician ensures that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures and goals. The Test & Validation Technician, as with all members of the Server Technology Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality. ### Responsibilities **What Will You Do?** - Validate new products and revise products against design specifications, ensuring proper functionality and document results. - Review BOM’s against the physical sample and note any discrepancies. - Perform thermal tests on print circuit boards and finished product. - Review pre-production prototypes using supplied mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams to ensure they are manufactured correctly. - Diagnose and correct faults in prototype PCAs and finished products. - Troubleshoot analog and digital test items. - Assist in the setup and running of R&D experiments under the direction of engineering personnel. - Maintain and organize the engineering lab and test validation inventory as instructed by designated engineering personnel. - Promote positive company user relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting employees when appropriate. - Display original thinking and creativity; Meet challenges with resourcefulness; Generate suggestions for improving work; Develop innovative approaches and ideas. - Display willingness to make decisions; Exhibit sound and accurate judgment; Support and explain reasoning for decisions; Include appropriate people in decision-making process (specifically Department Managers); Make timely decisions. - Perform other duties as assigned. ### Qualifications **Education:** - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by college level Electronics Technician coursework; Associates Degree in Industrial Electronics or related field preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. **Experience:** - None required. **Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:** - Basic electrical understanding/knowledge. - Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook). - Self-management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks. - Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide informat…
