## Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Writer / Policy Analyst to support senior Department of Defense leadership. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer who can transform complex technical and policy information into clear, concise, and executive-level products that inform decision-makers and support mission success. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside senior government and military leaders in a fast-paced environment where high-quality written communication directly supports critical national security missions. ## Responsibilities - Draft, edit, and format executive correspondence, including memoranda, information papers, decision papers, executive summaries, white papers, reports, and official letters. - Staff executive memoranda and official correspondence through DoD coordination and approval processes. - Develop briefing materials, talking points, presentations, meeting agendas, and executive read-ahead packages for senior leadership. - Research, analyze, and interpret DoD policies, directives, regulations, and guidance to support organizational initiatives. - Prepare, review, coordinate, and track staffing packages, executive taskers, and action items through the appropriate review and approval channels. - Collaborate with government leaders, program managers, and subject matter experts to develop accurate and technically sound documentation. - Develop and maintain policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), concept of operations (CONOPS), and organizational guidance documents. - Ensure written products comply with applicable DoD correspondence standards, formatting requirements, and organizational policies. - Review documents for clarity, consistency, grammar, technical accuracy, and quality. ### Requirements - Active DoD Secret security clearance. - Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Political Science, Technical Writing, or a related field. - Minimum of three years of experience supporting the Department of Defense or another federal agency. - Demonstrated experience developing, staffing, and coordinating executive memoranda and official correspondence within the Department of Defense. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience preparing documents through DoD staffing and executive review processes. - Demonstrated experience drafting executive memoranda, policy documents, briefing materials, decision papers, and correspondence for senior government or military leadership. - Experience supporting policy development, policy implementation, or executive staff actions. - Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills. - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. ## Preferred Qualifications - Experience supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Defense Agencies, or Military Departments. - Familiarity with DoD correspondence standards, executive staffing processes, and controlled correspondence requirements. - Experience using the Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS) or similar DoD executive correspondence and task management systems. - Experience developing executive-level communications for General Officers, Flag Officers, Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders, or other senior government officials. - Experience using SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for document management and collaboration. ### Benefits ### (Our client's industry-leading benefits package contributes to approximately 30% of your total compensation package!): - Paid time off will initially be accrued at a rate of 6.33 hours per semi-monthly pay period, for a total of 19 days/152 hours annually for the first two years. - 12 paid holidays that can be used as floating holidays throughout the year (11 Federal holidays plus one b…
