Technical Writer — Healthcare Documentation

About the Opportunity Akicita is seeking a Technical Writer to develop end-user guidance for a nationwide Indian Health Service (IHS) immunization reporting project. This is a remote, part-time engagement (approximately 600 hours over a 12-month base period beginning August 2026). Why Join Us Documentation you write will be used at hundreds of IHS hospitals, clinics, and health centers serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities. What You'll Do • Author a comprehensive User Operations Guide covering five IHS immunization data systems (RPMS, CRS, iCARE, NIRS/NVC dashboard, GPRA reporting) • Translate complex technical and clinical-data concepts into clear, plain-language, step-by-step instructions for providers and program staff • Develop flowcharts, templates, annotated example reports and screenshots, and click-path workflows • Create standardized guidance documents on when and how to use each reporting system • Support development of training products: participant workbooks, quick reference guides, and job aids • Apply consistent style, structure, and Section 508 accessibility standards across all deliverables; manage document versions through Government review cycles
