Function / Position Summary To provide individualized instruction and support for students representing continual social and emotional and behavior concerns impacting their school success. To provide teacher and staff support when working with students exhibiting a higher level of social and emotional and behavior needs in the classroom. Job Duties / Responsibilities Works with staff to plan a program of behavior and social skills that follows district guidelines and meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Utilizes restorative practices in a variety of methods to make the educational setting effective for everyone. Displays a thorough knowledge of behavior management through restorative practices. Works collaboratively with the MTSS coaches and teams to plan for and guide the learning process toward the mastery of behavioral goals, and establishes clear objectives for all social skills lessons, units, and projects that are clearly communicated to students. Work cooperatively with colleagues and school administrators to implement strategies to help students improve their behavior. As appropriate, implements assessments of student progress and communicates progress to staff, students, and parents. Guides small student groups, as identified through data, in improving their essential social skills and improving their educational outcome. Effectively implements research-based intervention strategies geared towards improving social, emotional, and behavioral wellness that impacts school performance. Leads restorative circles Sets high expectations for student achievement and behavior and motivates students to work to their highest potential. Utilizes data to drive instructional lessons and school-wide initiatives related towards the teaching of proper social and emotional skills. Manages all student success plans and monitors progress. Assists administration in implementing student discipline policies and maintains order in area(s) assigned and/or supervised in a fair and just manner. Works with students in crisis in collaboration with the student support team in order to return students to learning. Process minor behavior referrals and works with the student services team to create ongoing support. Communicates with parents and all stakeholders for students with repeated behavior referrals and works to create a plan to improve learning in the class. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal, or other administrative staff Education Bachelor's degree in related subject from accredited university. Illinois teacher certificate (LBS1 or LBS2), preferred Experience with utilizing restorative practices in education is preferred. Bilingual skills and additional endorsements/certifications are a plus. Previous experience in working with at-risk youth preferred Experience / Knowledge Applicant should have knowledge of behavioral interventions that are scientifically researched to have proven positive results (within the school or classroom.) Applicant should have knowledge and previous training in Restorative Practices Applicant must be able to demonstrate the ability to build relationships with all students and provide realistic solutions to help them be successful in their education.
