Certification Candidates must hold or be eligible for one of the following: Level I Level II Level III Temporary Teaching Assistant Certificate For certification requirements and application details, visit: http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/ta.html Duties Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Working with individual students or small groups on instructional activities Assisting teachers by providing insight into student progress and needs Supporting students in the use of instructional resources Assisting in the development of instructional materials Utilizing specialized skills in areas such as languages, arts, crafts, and music Supporting classroom instruction as directed by the teacher Assisting students with specific health-related needs, as appropriate Local collective bargaining agreements may further define the specific duties and conditions of employment for Teaching Assistants, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
