**SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II** Under general supervision, performs professional work assisting in the operation and support of the County’s wide area network. Identifies and installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Assembles and troubleshoots computers, servers, ancillary equipment and software to sustain service level requirements to County organizations. Primary responder for all server hardware and software issues including VMWare and appliances. Expected to research and resolve IT issues in a timely manner. Designs and implements Microsoft Active Directory Schema (a Microsoft network), determines server specific requirements to meet program goals and for secure communications. Anticipates requirements and integrates solutions to achieve specific goals which demonstrating advances skills in configuring server and software platforms. Assists server team with installation and management of Anti-Virus, and patching software for County computers. Monitors systems and other logs daily for security threats and update status. Assembles, installs, and troubleshoots computers, printers, and other equipment; replaces defective parts; repairs and cleans equipment and components; performs preventive maintenance when possible. Performs these tasks to ensure IT meets service level requirements when staff are absent. Maintains, troubleshoots, and expands capabilities of Active Directory and Group Policy. Assists in performs network installation and administration to include operating systems via WSUS (Windows Server Update Services), network cards, and switches. Installs network wiring when required.
