Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School Part-time Position Description Swim School Instructor Our Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School Instructor and Coaches eagerly and enthusiastically conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe and fun teaching environment. We teach swimmers of all ages and abilities appropriate skills according to the Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School curriculum, culture and philosophy. This part-time position has a variable schedule and reports to the Sarasota Sharks Site Supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Conduct group and private swim lessons in a safe, supportive, positive and motivating learning environment. - Instruct and teach students of all ages and abilities with appropriate skills according to the Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School curriculum, culture and philosophy. - Attend instructional swim staff meetings and training as required and directed. - Maintain regular open communication with the Site Supervisor regarding issues related to the program. - Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. - Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff. - Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and set up and clean-up of lesson equipment and changeover of pool configuration. - Respond to emergencies, injuries, and illnesses as they arise. - Other duties assigned by Site Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS - Must complete and pass the ASCA SwimAmerica™ Online Coaches Course within 30 days of hire (paid for by Sarasota Sharks SwimAmerica™ Swim School). - Must have current CPR/AED and first-aid certifications, or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire. Lifeguard certification is a plus. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform policy. - Experience working with children is preferred. - Must be 16 years of age or older (15 years with lifeguard certification). - Previous swimming or instructional experience is highly preferred. - Must have a strong interest and passion for teaching children and be in the water for a 3-4 hour shift. - Must have transportation and be punctual and reliable.
