**Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company** is seeking a **Surveillance Systems Engineer** in **Patuxent River, MD.** The Surveillance Systems Engineer supports the integration, certification, and evaluation of airborne surveillance systems across Naval Aviation platforms. The incumbent independently contributes to engineering analysis, certification efforts, and systems integration activities, ensuring surveillance systems meet operational and regulatory requirements. **Position Type:** Full-Time **Salary:** $110k-$150k annually (depending on experience) **Work Location:** Hybrid remote/in-office. (see onsite requirements below) **\*\*On-site Requirements:** This position requires the ability to work onsite at Patuxent River, MD 60%+ of the time. **Essential Functions:** **Surveillance Systems Engineering** - Analyze and support integration of airborne surveillance systems, including: - ADS‑B (Out/In) - Mode S transponders - TCAS / ACAS systems - Evaluate system architectures, interfaces, and interoperability with air traffic systems **Certification & Compliance Support** - Support certification and compliance efforts, including: - Reviewing requirements and design artifacts - Supporting compliance documentation and certification packages - Analyzing verification and validation (V&V) results - Assist with airworthiness activities such as: - Flight clearance support - Engineering assessments **Systems Engineering & Integration** - Perform systems engineering activities including: - Requirements analysis and traceability - Design and interface evaluation - Integration and verification support - Identify technical risks and support mitigation strategies **Test & Evaluation** - Support lab, ground, and flight test activities - Analyze system performance and compliance evidence **Risk & Technical Assessment** - Contribute to system performance assessments and issue identification - Support basic hazard analysis and risk identification activities **Team and IPT Support** - Work within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) - Coordinate with: - Program offices (PMAs) - Senior engineers and stakeholders - Test, integration, and software teams - Provide task-level guidance to junior engineers - Other duties as assigned or required **Required:** - Experience with airborne surveillance systems (e.g., ADS‑B, Mode S, TCAS) - Working knowledge of: - Systems engineering principles - Requirements management and V&V processes - Familiarity with certification and airworthiness processes - Ability to analyze system behavior and interpret technical data - Strong technical documentation and communication skills - Experience working in a team-based engineering environment **Desired:** - Experience supporting Naval Aviation or DoD aviation programs - Familiarity with certification standards (RTCA, FAA, ICAO) - Exposure to hazard analysis or risk assessment activities - Experience with multi-platform or integrated avionics environments **Education/Years of Experience:** Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field and **3-7 years** related experience required. **Security Clearance:** Active Secret clearance required.
