## Description **JOB DESCRIPTION** The Substance Use Disorders Specialist (SUDS) for the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) will assist and provide services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness in the community where they live, instead of a hospital or clinical settings. The incumbent will supervise the general health, safety, and ongoing recovery of clients who specifically have issues with alcohol and/or drugs. Also provide case management and perform counseling functions, staff education and direct groups for clients in all phases of recovery/awareness/contemplation/relapse prevention, etc. regarding co-occurring disorders. **WHO WE ARE** Looking to make a difference? Non-exempt; 40 hours/week; Eligible for overtime. Compensation based on education and experience. **REPORTS TO** Program Director, Program Manager, Clinical Specialist or Program Coordinator. **QUALIFICATIONS** Required: Bilingual in Spanish. Bachelor’s degree in mental health related field, plus Alcohol and Drug certification, CADC or LADC; a minimum of two years of experience in a mental health field and two years’ experience in providing Alcohol and Drug services. Drivers license for at least two years and driving record acceptable to insurance carrier. Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred: Experience in Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; proficient in Outlook email correspondence and computer software’s. Ability to; work as a member of a team; accept supervision; maintain appropriate boundaries while working in close inter- personal relationships; learn and apply principles of social rehabilitation; organized, responsible, flexible, empathic and able to relate effectively with clients, other staff, professionals and members of the community. Knowledge of community resources. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** 1 1. Provide on-call services. 2. Understand MHSA provisions and include bringing individual competencies to the team to enhance the 3. team’s ability to connect with consumers of all types. 4. Provide a culturally and linguistically appropriate recovery-oriented, trauma informed, wellness centered approach to providing services. 5. Services will be delivered with a “whatever it takes” philosophy, collaborating with co-staff to be creative in delivering services and meeting consumers “where they are” in their recovery. 6. Seek trainings in proven systems of service delivery such as Assertive Community Treatment, Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (I.D.D.T), Harm Reduction, ASAM Criteria, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and ongoing discussion and education with team members that promotes a learning environment. 7. Provide staff training in Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, ASMA Criteria, Stages of Change, and other substance use disorders treatment and recovery methods 8.
