The Data Centre SME – Power serves as EdgeConneX’s subject matter expert and technical authority for electrical power systems across the local data centre portfolio. This role provides strategic and operational leadership in the application of engineering principles, ensuring the reliability, resilience, and performance of critical electrical infrastructure Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the SME is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving power-related standards, policies, procedures, and best practices. The role leverages advanced technical expertise and extensive industry experience to evaluate complex operational issues, mitigate risk, support incident investigations, and drive initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, quality, and reliability. The SME collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners, influencing decision-making across multiple disciplines. Acting as a trusted advisor to site operations and leadership teams, the role provides technical guidance, supports the achievement of operational objectives, and ensures alignment with corporate standards and industry best practices. Success in this position requires sound independent judgement, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to make informed decisions on complex technical matters. Performance is measured against departmental goals, operational outcomes, and the successful delivery of technical and business objectives. This role requires onsite training/onboarding in one or multiple other EdgeConneX locations. Expected travel in the first 6 months is significant. Primary Responsibilities Serve as the primary technical authority for all critical power systems across the local data centre portfolio, providing expert engineering guidance and strategic support to Site Engineering teams, Campus Management, and Operations Leadership.Develop, review, and maintain MOP templates and power system standards across the local portfolio. Lead the application and development of technical policies, procedures, and standards for critical power infrastructure. Plan and schedule critical power maintenance in line with the PPM calendar, including method selection and risk assessment. Assess complex technical situations and implement safe, effective, and practical solutions. Manage on-site testing of mission-critical power equipment, ensuring alignment with EdgeConneX, EMEA, and global standards. Lead root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed. Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce power-related costs while maintaining continuity and SLA compliance. Coordinate with mechanical, civil, procurement, customer, and other stakeholder groups on cross-discipline matters. Support new site commissioning and infrastructure expansion as the power technical authority. Travel across EMEA sites as required, typically up to 25–50%.
