Apply now to join an organization where you truly make a difference. **Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:** ### **Position Overview** The Utility Storeroom Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and inventory operations that support the Department of Public Utilities. This role ensures efficient procurement, storage, distribution, and tracking of materials, equipment, and supplies essential to water and sewer system operations. The Supervisor maintains accurate inventory control, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, procurement guidelines, and leads a team responsible for storeroom functions. ### ### **Key Responsibilities** - ### Manage daily operations of the utility storeroom, including receiving, stocking, issuing, and tracking materials and equipment - ### Maintain accurate inventory levels (~3500 items valued at ~$4M) through routine cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation activities - ### Coordinate with vendors, purchasing staff, and internal teams to ensure timely procurement and replenishment of critical materials - ### Solicit quotes from vendors for inventory and special-order items - ### Supervise, train, and evaluate storeroom staff; promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment - ### Develop and implement procedures for inventory control, material handling, and warehouse operations - ### Monitor material usage trends, forecast needs, and identify opportunities for cost savings or process improvements - ### Ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and use of inventory management systems - ### Work with City and Departmental financial teams to perform routine audits and ensure financial accountability - ### Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, city procurement guidelines, and utility operational requirements - ### Participate in emergency response and after-hours operations as needed - ### Respond on a rotational basis (after-hours) to locate (in-stock or vendor) materials necessary to complete emergency repairs ### ### ### **Preferred Skills** - ### Supervisory or lead experience. - ### Experience in water or wastewater utility setting. - ### Experience with Inter-Departmental Financial Transfers (IDT). - ### Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills. - ### Knowledge of utility-specific materials, tools, and equipment. - ### Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees and vendors. - ### Certification in inventory management, logistics, or warehouse operation. - ### Ability to safely and efficiently operate forklift. ### **Work Conditions** - ### Working hours will be Monday – Friday (8hr Days), position is in-person daily, not a remote/telework position - ### Warehouse and outside environment - ### Frequent lifting (greater than 50lbs.), standing, and operating material-handling equipment - ### Occasional field support or after‑hours work during emergencies or operational needs ### **Additional requirements:** • DMV Transcript: Yes • CDL: No • Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse: No • CPS Check: No • Physical: Yes • Respirator: No • Psychological Screening: No • Polygraph: No • At Will: No **Minimum Requirements:** Minimum Qualifications: High school or GED plus five (5) years’ experience in maintaining storeroom/inventory records in such positions as parts manager.
