We believe our continued success starts with hiring talented people who take ownership of their work and want to grow with the company. ## Position Summary GEMCO is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely financial reporting across multiple business entities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with numbers, and contributing to a fast-paced construction organization. ## Primary Responsibilities - Assist with monthly financial close process - Prepare and post journal entries - Reconcile balance sheet accounts - Reconcile corporate credit card activity - Maintain and reconcile company credit card accounts - Prepare monthly CLC and WEX journal entries - Reconcile health insurance invoices and related expenses - Prepare and submit state sales tax filings - Maintain financial records for GEMCO Transport - Set up new jobs within the accounting system - Set up new customer accounts - Assist with intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliations - Support internal audits and provide documentation as requested - Assist with special accounting projects and other duties as assigned ## Qualifications ### Required - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered) - Strong understanding of accounting principles - Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations - Working knowledge of: - Profit & Loss Statements - Balance Sheets - General Ledger accounting - Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills ### Preferred - Construction accounting experience - Job costing experience - Understanding of intercompany accounting - Experience with ERP/accounting software - Experience working in a multi-entity environment ## What We're Looking For The successful candidate will be: - Highly organized - Self-motivated - Dependable - Able to prioritize multiple deadlines - Comfortable working independently - Resourceful and proactive - Collaborative with internal departments - Committed to accuracy and continuous improvement ## Work Environment - Full-time - On-site in Carmel, Indiana - Primarily office environment - Occasional overtime during month-end or year-end close - Limited travel as needed ## Why Join GEMCO? - Stable and growing national contractor - Collaborative accounting team - Opportunity to learn construction accounting - Exposure to multiple operating companies - Competitive compensation and benefits - Paid Time Off - Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance - 401(k) with Company Match - Company-paid Life Insurance - Opportunities for professional development and advancement ## Equal Opportunity Employer GEMCO Constructors is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
