The Role As a Sr. Software Engineer on the Platform Engineering team at Bloomerang, you are a hands-on engineer on a hands-on team. You write code in a shared codebase every day alongside your teammates, pull work from our Kanban board, mob with the team on the hard problems, and stay on the hook for what you ship after it goes live. This is a build-and-operate role, not an architecture role—nothing here gets designed on a whiteboard and handed off to someone else to implement. You work across two pillars. You go deep on the systems the entire platform depends on—in the near term, our authentication chain (centralized authentication and session management) as we drive toward a unified identity solution—and you build and own the AI harness our engineering organization runs on: the agentic tooling, orchestration, and evaluation infrastructure that turns frontier models into reliable, everyday engineering leverage. You write and own high-quality C#/.NET services, and you use the throughput AI unlocks the way it should be used—not just shipping faster, but following through with real customer feedback, measurement, and iteration until the work makes a meaningful difference for nonprofits. What You Will Do Write code in a shared codebase every day with the rest of the team—pulling work from our Kanban board, mobbing (ensemble programming) on the hard problems, reviewing your teammates’ work and having yours reviewed, and helping the team surface and clear bottlenecks in a continuous-flow model. Design, build, and own backend services at the core of our platform—in the near term, our authentication chain (centralized authentication and session management), advancing toward a unified identity solution, primarily in C#/.NET. Operate what you build—instrument it, watch it in production, take your turn in the on-call rotation for the services your team owns, and be the one who fixes it when it breaks. Build and own the agentic harness Bloomerang engineering runs on—agent workflows, tool and model integrations, orchestration, and the guardrails and evaluation infrastructure that keep AI-driven development reliable and safe. Use the throughput AI-driven development unlocks to follow through on delivery—ship minimum viable increments, then gather real customer feedback, run A/B tests, measure what shipped, and iterate until it makes a meaningful difference for nonprofits. The work doesn’t stop at the MVP; we use the time AI gives back to deliver the functionality, quality, security, and the rest of the -ilities our industry has always wanted to and rarely had time for. Build and maintain the cross-cutting AI-platform pieces the org shares—standardized prompt and context pipelines, consolidated local development environments across our products and teams—and keep token spend efficient without ever trading away quality or completeness.
