Procedure nurses must have ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic sterile technique by ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are available for in-office procedures. Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail to ensure physician preferences are met when scrubbed in or circulating in cases. Procedure nurses should be able to exhibit assessment and reassessment skills in order to maintain patient safety. This includes but is not limited to the patient's stability pre-procedure, the patient's tolerance of procedures, evaluation of pain both intra-operatively and post-operatively, provides support and relaxation intra-operatively, evaluation of patient's response to medications, and follow-up assessment of patient's pain and infection status. Must be able to communicate clearly with all members of the healthcare team. Must be willing to learn all principles of infection control to maintain care of equipment and supplies post procedure. **Responsibilities:** # **Essential Job Functions** 1. Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria. - Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs. 2. Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the patient's needs. - Includes data from the patient/significant other(s) in the assessment as appropriate. - Prioritizes data collection according to patient's immediate needs. - Triages emergency and all other patient calls to determine patient needs by making detailed inquiries of patient history, notifying physician and treating according to physician's orders 100% of the time. - Prepares patient for physician exam by assessing symptoms, weighing patient, checking vital signs, obtaining relevant information pertinent to patient needs, documenting all information/procedures and reviewing patients medical record 95% of time when applicable. 3. Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient's nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes. (Consultation and resources, nurses as teachers.) - Collaborates with providers and other clinical disciplines as appropriate. - Provides teaching specific to the patient. - Care plan reflects continuing care needs and/or referrals. - At the direction of the physician, provides patient and family education regarding proper use of medication, medical equipment and health/illness prevention to ensure adequate knowledge/awareness and recommending appropriate community resources 95% of the time. 4.
