QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High School Diploma /Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Knowledge of public school accounting. Excellent oral and written communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills. Excellent knowledge and understanding of technology and its use to enhance the efficiency of the Business Services department. Highly effective organizational and consensus building skills. Knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of MISD. Knowledge and understanding of all IRS statutes, TRS statutes, and State statutes. EXPERIENCE: Successful experience in the accounting and budgeting process. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Setting up and maintaining data in the Kronos Timekeeping System Prepare monthly TRS report for employment of retired members Set up pay and deduction information for all full and part-time employees Setting up and maintaining leave day balances for attendance Verifying all salaries for each employee at the beginning of each school year Keep abreast of all government updates and changes regarding pay information and guidelines Make payroll information available to auditors Help with preparation of W-2's Distribute checks each payday Implement direct deposit and credit union personal business transactions for all full time employees Process sensitive information with complete confidentiality Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Communicating well regarding proper treatment in financial matters. Keeping abreast of new state and federal legislation concerning accounting requirements. Physical demands/environmental factors: Reaching and carrying heavy ledgers/ accounting books.
