Special Projects Controller

Our Chester location also includes the Builders Supply retail hardware and building materials store. **Position Summary:** The Special Projects Controller is a highly skilled person who will create value for the company by partnering with the operations, accounting, and resource teams. The individual must be forward thinking and excellent at solving problems while focusing on accounting activities with the potential for a broader scope of responsibilities. This individual will also partner with other departments to accomplish specific projects to accomplish business objectives. **Duties/Responsibilities:** - Collaborate with multiple departments to implement various statements and reports for the Resource department (Timberlands). - Perform monthly financial statement analysis; budget variance analysis; valuation and reconciliation of inventory; accruals; depreciation; reconciliation of balance sheet accounts; grant and project accounts as directed. - Produce and reconcile financials for multiple departments and project accounts. - Responsible for reconciliation and compliance with regulations for multiple multi-million-dollar grants simultaneously. Grants include federal, state, and local municipality. - Oversight and review of bi-monthly log accounting and working knowledge of log accounting systems. - Establish and maintain controls and procedures to ensure general acceptable accounting practices (GAAP). - Perform financial analysis for facilities, potential projects, and CIP projects. - Prepare information for internal audits – responsible for communication, coordination and inquiries from and for external auditors. - Execute and incorporate compliance for timber and forestry contracts. - Oversee inventory physical counts, inventory valuation, and inventory process controls. Perform valuation of inventory at lower of cost or market. - Prepare annual budgets and quarterly reforecasting (working in coordination with sales, operations, and forestry personnel). - Collaborate with departments for additional special projects, as needed. - Cross train with the Division Controllers to assist the company as needed. - Perform additional duties as required by supervisor. - On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities. **Required Skills and Abilities:** - - Strong budgetary understanding and focus and strong operational accounting understanding. - Ability to self-direct and prioritize workflow. - Ability to exercise good judgment and manage the function, consistent with corporate and fiduciary principles and guidelines, while participating as a member of the local facility team. - High level of personal integrity and ethical and professional standards. - Travel required to our Lakeview and Kane facility, as needed. **Education and Experience:** - Bachelor’s degree in accounting or the equivalent experience required. - Strong accounting experience including balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis required. - Five (5) years of experience in the wood products industry preferred. Salary $100,000- $130,000 DOE
