Special Education Teacher JobID: 1331 Position Type: Jr/Sr High School Teaching/Special Education Date Posted: 7/13/2026 Location: Florence Jr/Sr High School Additional Information: Show/Hide Special Education Teacher Florence Jr./Sr. High School Position Overview: Fremont RE-2 School District is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Colorado Department of Education requirements, and District procedures. The Special Education Teacher works under the direction of the Building Principal and the Director of Special Education to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), provide specially designed instruction, support inclusive educational practices, and support students with disabilities in accessing appropriate educational opportunities. This position serves as the case manager for assigned students and works collaboratively with families, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators to support student progress, compliance, and success. Qualifications Valid Colorado Department of Education license with appropriate Special Education endorsement required, or ability to obtain appropriate licensure as permitted by the Colorado Department of Education Experience working with students with learning, behavioral, and/or physical disabilities preferred Knowledge of special education law, procedures, and compliance requirements related to IDEA and Colorado regulations Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including measurable goals, objectives, accommodations, and services Ability to develop and support behavior intervention plans and appropriate student support strategies Demonstrated ability to supervise and support students in resource, inclusion, and other educational settings Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, special education staff, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, students, and families Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to assist with Response to Intervention (RTI)/Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes as appropriate Demonstrated skills in literacy instructional strategies, including assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring Must be trained in, or willing to be trained in, District-approved crisis prevention/intervention procedures and assume a crisis team leadership role when appropriate Successful completion of all required criminal background checks and fingerprinting Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specialized Instruction and Student Support Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities based on individual learning needs and IEP goals. Develop and implement instructional strategies designed to improve academic, behavioral, functional, and social-emotional outcomes for students. Use assessment data, progress monitoring, and student performance information to guide instruction and improve student outcomes. Support students in resource rooms, inclusion settings, and other service delivery models as determined by IEP teams. Establish and maintain safe, inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environments for students. IEP Development and Case Management Serve as the case manager for assigned students and support compliance with IDEA, Colorado Department of Education requirements, and District procedures. Develop, write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and IEP team members.
